Drink Beer and Carry On

During World War II, the British Ministry of Information produced, among many other works of inspiration and/or propaganda, millions of “Keep Calm and Carry On” posters, which were never used. (Doesn’t Gill Sans just scream Britain at you?) Some enterprising beer lovers have tweaked this poster into a brilliant “Drink Beer and Carry On” t-shirt.

Note the crown’s subtle shift into the UK’s pint glass crown stamp. Very well done. You can order one online, in red, green, and blue. You can read more about the poster’s history here.

Neighborhood Signs

One of San Diego’s most visible treasures of public art are its neon neighborhood signs. Each distinct, but of a family, they capture something of the personality of each neighborhood, and are great fodder for San Diego’s community of amateur and professional photographers. Here are a selection of my favorites.
