Before the common use of cars, before telephone, before television or internet, a French artist named Villemard created these visions of life in the year 2000. Most are fanciful Victorian misses, though some hit pretty close (a precursor to podcasts; military tanks).
It’s funny how we project the current onto the future. There are many fantastically complicated-looking machines that do mundane tasks (an automated tailor, for instance); it was the Industrial Revolution, afterall. Then there are beautiful concepts which I wish came to fruition, like the long-haul airship.
More after the jump, many more yet at paleofuture.
