Dashboards are about to get interesting

I’m sure this is only the beginning. Where do I sign up to be a dashboard designer? Guess that’s more of an industrial design thing…

It’s only industrial design until it becomes a general-purpose interface, right? So I think you qualify.

Jesse, I want you to design a car that you operate by interacting with a single floating semi-opaque glowing orb that changes colors. You can use the orb to drive, steer, accelerate, change the radio station, make phone calls, control the air conditioner, etc. Also, the car hovers.

Dashboards have looked like this for many years at auto shows, no? Then reality sets in and BMW fudges up the iDrive or whatever it was called. Doh.
