Cidade de Homens (City of Men) is my favorite show right now. Maybe it’s because I’m fascinated by Brazil. Maybe it’s because I lived in Rio for a few months. I don’t know, but I love it. Although some of its explorations of poverty/violence/inequality/etc feel heavy handed, the show feels very real—and very Brazilian—to me.
